ABOUT ABU DHABI T10 LEAGUE
There is a Ten10 cricket league in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, called T10, which was founded by and is owned by T Ten Sports Management. The Emirates Cricket Board has approved the league. Each match lasts about 90 minutes, and each team plays ten overs. In the tournament, there are two rounds of play followed by Eliminators and the Final. The International Cricket Council (ICC) approved the league in 2018.
Since one year to the next, the league’s viewership and economic value have grown significantly. In comparison with the 2017 tournament, 342 million people watched the 2021-2022 tournament on TV and online streaming. As of now, the league’s economic impact is worth USD $621.2 million.
The megastars of world cricket will once again light up the tournament.
Deccan Gladiators, one of the most popular franchise clubs, will be hoping to set the tournament alight with English opener Jason Roy and veteran Indian batter Suresh Raina. Eoin Morgan, England’s World Cup-winning captain, will also demonstrate his power hitting.
The tournament will also feature Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva. Kieron Pollard will surprise batters with his slower balls. The power game of Andre Russell will also be on display. The Abu Dhabi T10 team’s owners will be hoping their top stars are on their game.
History:
Shaji Ul Mulk, who is the head of T10 League, started the league.
Rules:
10 of the 11 players on a team can be from outside of the country (from any part of the world).
Which teams are participating?
There are six teams in the fifth season of the T10 League. A team from Bangla Tigers, a team from Deccan Gladiators, a team from Delhi Bulls, a team from Northern Warriors, a team from Team Abu Dhabi, and a new team for Chennai Braves. Instead of the Maratha Arabians, Qalandars, and Pune Devils, the Braves are in the tournament. As a result, there are now only six teams instead of eight.
In 2018 and 2021, the Northern Warriors have won the title the most times. The trophy was won by teams that no longer exist in 2017 and 2019. Kerala Kings and Maratha Arabians were these teams. The Deccan Gladiators (in 2019) and the Delhi Bulls (in 2021) have both reached the final.
What’s the format?
Each team plays each other twice in the group stage, and the top four teams advance to the playoffs. The first qualifier matches the first- and second-placed teams in the knockout stages. The winner of that game advances to the final. The loser of the qualifier will play the winner of the third and fourth place match in the final for a spot in the final.
What occurred the last time?
Eight teams participated in the 2020 T10 League. The tournament was moved to January and February 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Delhi Bulls and Northern Warriors were the top two teams. They beat Qalandars on net run rate, and Team Abu Dhabi rounded out the top four.
Delhi Bulls defeated Northern Warriors by five wickets in the knockout rounds and advanced to the final. Team Abu Dhabi beat Qalandars by six wickets in the Eliminator. In their second attempt, Northern Warriors defeated Team Abu Dhabi by seven wickets. They easily defeated the Bulls by eight wickets in the final. Third place was won by Team Abu Dhabi.
Who are the participants?
Twenty-five English players are participating in the most recent T10 League. Delhi Bulls have signed Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy (if he doesn’t get injured), and Adil Rashid, all from England. Also playing will be Liam Livingstone (Team Abu Dhabi), Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali (both Northern Warriors), and Tymal Mills (Deccan Gladiators, if he isn’t injured).
In addition to Livingstone, Phil Salt, Danny Briggs, Chris Benjamin, and Jamie Overton, who took the most wickets last season, there are five English players on TAD’s team. In contrast, the Bangla Tigers have six English players (Benny Howell, Will Jacks, Luke Wood, Tom Hartley, Will Smeed and Adam Lyth). Jordan and Moeen will be joined by Samit Patel and Ross Whiteley for the Northern Warriors. The Deccan Gladiators will be led by Tom Banton, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Tom Moores. Toby Albert, Roman Walker, and Ravi Bopara have been signed by the new Chennai Braves team.
It will also feature many players from the T20 World Cup, including Andre Russell, David Wiese, Wanindu Hasaranga, Gulbadin Naib (Delhi Bulls), Nicholas Pooran, Migael Pretorius, Curtis Campher (all Chennai Braves), Mark Watt, Josh Little (both Northern Warriors), Chris Gayle, Paul Stirling, and Naveen Ul Haq.
