Hardik Pandya, who has been on a tremendous run of form lately, credits MS Dhoni’s early career advice with helping him develop into a better player.
Pandya has been in good shape so far in this five-game series
Hardik Pandya just joined the India team again for the T20I series against South Africa, where he made some important contributions. He was picked because he had a great IPL with the Gujarat Titans, where he showed how fit and in shape he was by leading them to the title. During the IPL, Pandya scored 487 runs and also took 8 wickets. The most impressive thing about his game, though, was how well he led. Because of this, he was named captain of India for the two T20I matches against Ireland later this month.
Pandya has been in good shape so far in this five-game series. He has scored 117 runs at a strike rate of 153.94, averaging 58.50 runs per game in the four games that have already happened. He worked with Dinesh Karthik to help India get a good score in the fourth T20I in Rajkot. This helped India tie the series at 2-2.
Hardik Pandya also said that MS Dhoni gave him one simple piece of advice
Pandya talked about how he thinks when he walks out to bat with Dinesh Karthik on BCCI.tv after the game. “For me, nothing really changes because I play the symbol on my chest, which is based on the situation. The only thing I want to get better at over time is making sure I keep doing the things I did for Gujarat Titans and for India quickly and often.”
Pandya also said that MS Dhoni gave him one simple piece of advice that has helped him a lot in his career so far when it comes to batting for his team. “Mahi Bhai taught me one thing when I was young. I asked him how he dealt with stress and everything else. He told me something very simple: “Stop thinking about your score and start thinking about what your team needs.” So, I remember that lesson, and it has helped me become the player I am today, able to play in any situation “Pandya added.
Hardik Pandya praised Dinesh Karthik for his performance
Pandya was also full of praise for Karthik, who has made a stunning comeback in the side. Calling him an ‘inspiration’. Pandya stated, “I need to tell you this, genuinely I want to tell you this. You have given a lot of inspiration to many guys in their life. I remember the conversation you were having. When you were not in the scheme of things, a lot of people counted you out.”
The series decider between India and South Africa will be played in Bengaluru on 19 June.
