Cricketers Who Played Other Sports: Cricketers are expected to be good at the sport they have chosen to specialize in. But there are some athletes who are good at more than one sport because they have more than one skill. There are many athletes who have played for their country in more than one sport.
Jonty Rhodes, who was a famous cricket player from South Africa, also played hockey for his country. Andrew Flintoff, who helped England win the 2005 Ashes, tried boxing for a short time after he retired, and Sir Ian Botham was a good football player who played in the English Football League.
Suzie Bates, a female cricketer from New Zealand, played basketball for her country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Ellyse Perry, a female cricketer from Australia, played for her country at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

1. Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal is one of Team India’s best players with the white ball in the current setup.
In 67 ODIs, he has taken 118 wickets, which is an average of 26.39. The 31-year-old is also India’s most successful bowler in T20Is. He has taken 79 wickets in 62 matches, for a strike rate of 17.7 and an average of 23.94.
The only person to have played for India in both chess and cricket is the leggie. He played in the World Youth Chess Championship before giving up the game because he couldn’t find any sponsors.
2. Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev is without a doubt the best all-around player India has ever had and one of the best in the world’s history. His incredible success on the international stage has inspired younger Indians to try fast bowling, which had never been done before.
After being great at cricket and breaking a few world records, the legend who won the World Cup in 1983 played in a few senior amateur golf tournaments for India.
He, Rishi Narain, and Amit Luthra were all chosen to represent India at the 2018 Asia Pacific Senior. In March 2021, he became a member of the Professional Golf Tour of India’s board of directors (PGTI).
3. Cotah Ramaswami
Cotah Ramaswami was a tennis and cricket player for India. In the 1920s, he played in the Davis Cup. In 1936, he played for India in two Tests in England. At age 40, he played his first Test match.
Ramaswami did very well in the two Tests. He scored 170 runs with a 56.66 average and a high score of 60. In 53 first-class games, he scored 2400 runs at an average of 28.91, with two hundreds and 12 fifties.
Ramaswami also took 30 wickets, averaging 33.06 per game.
4. Ajit Agarkar
Someone once called Ajit Agarkar the next Kapil Dev. He would never be as successful as the “Haryana Hurricane.” But he had a pretty good career on the international level, especially with the white ball.
In 191 ODIs, Agarkar took 288 wickets, with an average of 27.85 and an economy rate of 5.07. He only took 58 wickets in 26 Tests, but he was the bowling hero in India’s famous win in Adelaide in 2003-04, when he took six wickets for 41 runs.
Similarly, like Kapil, Agarkar developed a taste for golf after retiring. As a professional, he has won several amateur events, making him one of the best in the business.
BMR World Corporate Golf Challenge India Finals, held at Prestige Golfshire in Bengaluru, was won by him in 2016.
5. Chuni Goswami
Chuni Goswami was a well-known football player who died young. He played 50 times for India on the international stage. As captain, he led India to gold at the Asian Games in 1962 and silver at the Asia Cup in 1964. He also took part in the 1960 Summer Olympics as a member of the Indian team.
After he stopped playing football, Goswami turned his attention to cricket. In 46 first-class games for Bengal, he scored 1592 runs, which is an average of 28.42.
He got a score of 127 fifty-points. He took 47 wickets at an average of 24.08 with his medium speed.
