Glenn Maxwell, an all-rounder for Australia, talked about how bad the pain was and what happened when he broke his leg at a friend’s party earlier this month. Maxwell was at a friend’s house in Melbourne to celebrate the birthday of a cricket official when he slipped on some fake grass and was taken to the hospital in a hurry.

Maxwell talked about the painful event and how he broke his left fibula on the Unplayable Podcast on cricket.com.au. Maxwell said, “One of my friends was also one of my teachers, and we were laughing about something, so I pretended to chase him away from somewhere”. “I think we each took three or four steps out there, and then we both fell at the same time. He just got my foot stuck a little, and when he fell, he hit my leg straight on ” It just snapped. I could hear and feel everything. It hurt pretty bad”. ” I was yelling, and he kept saying, “Please tell me you’re kidding, please tell me you’re kidding”.
The veteran said the pain he was in at the time was unbearable, and it is only now, after successful surgery, that he is slowly getting better. Maxwell added, “I probably didn’t sleep for two days because I was in so much pain”.
Maxwell talked about his family
“It was pretty bad for a couple of days. My wife was amazing the whole time.” ” I broke my ankle bone. So, I think that snap was the first one I heard. It broke in half, but it also broke all the way through the bone ” There was also a small piece missing from the tibia, and I tore all the ligaments on the top of my foot. All of the syndesmosis ligaments are broken. I did a good job for something that was so simple”.
” This is the most frustrating part: I’ve done stupid things on the field and off the field, but I’ve never even come close to hurting myself (like this) ” It’s just annoying that someone would do something so harmless. It didn’t amount to anything. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve jumped into a pool and then thought, “That was probably a little shallower than I thought.” I didn’t even get a scratch, a bruise, or a rolled ankle. “It was just a little bit slippery, and all of a sudden there goes a couple of months”.
Maxwell hasn’t set a timetable for how long
Maxwell hasn’t given up hope that he will be back in time to play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Match during Australia’s tour of India next year. Maxwell hasn’t played a Test match for Australia since 2017, but he’s been doing well with the white ball and in the Indian Premier League, so he could be called back. Maxwell hasn’t set a timetable for how long it will take him to get better, but he hopes he can get back to work in time to go on the trip.
“They have a deadline for announcing the team to India.And to be honest, there’s a good chance I won’t make it,” he said. “They’re going to have to see me play cricket.And if they do take me, they’re going to have to take a big risk. “But I think that’s probably why I don’t want to set dates or times for when I can come back. I’d love to be fine for that, but I’m at the mercy of how quickly my body heals. And how quickly I can put strength back into it so I can play cricket again “.
