Virat Kohli Century: ‘Run-machine’ Virat Kohli scores another century against Sri Lanka. On Sunday, he scored his 46th ODI hundred against Sri Lanka in Trivandrum. Kohli also broke two Sachin Tendulkar records. Kohli now leads Tendulkar in ODI centuries at home and holds the record for most tons against a single team in 50-over cricket.
In the first match of the series against Sri Lanka in Guwahati, Kohli equaled Tendulkar’s record with a triple-digit score. In 99 innings, Kohli scored his 20th ODI hundred on home soil, while Sachin took 160.
Kohli scored his 21st century on home soil with a century in the third ODI.
Kohli also broke Tendulkar’s record for most ODI hundreds against a single team. Tendulkar and Kohli both had 9 centuries against one nation. Kohli now has 10 tons against Sri Lanka, the most ever against a single team.
Also, Virat has 9 centuries against West Indies, and Tendulkar has nine against Australia. In the first ODI, Kohli beat Sachin’s record for most centuries (8).
Kohli had become the 5th highest-scoring batter in ODI history, surpassing Mahela Jayawardene earlier in the game. Kohli did so as he passed the 62-run mark. In 50-over cricket, Jayawardene has 12,650 runs for Sri Lanka.
Kohli has 46 ODI centuries, 27 test tons, and one T20 hundred.
